What does the Collector do?

The Collector’s office collects property taxes to help support schools, cities, roads, jails, and county expenses based on millage rates set by local governments and voters. These taxes are about 1% of the value of your home, car, and other items that you may own.

How do I pay my property taxes?

Taxes may be paid with a check on current accounts only, money order, cash, cashier’s check or credit card. The Marion County Collector’s Office accepts online credit card payments for taxes, or you may pay over the phone with a credit card by calling 870-449-6253.

Taxpayers can pay their personal and real estate taxes online:

Please note: delinquent taxes

If your personal property taxes are delinquent on or before tax year 2020, you can no longer pay them online or through the Tax Collector’s office. Marion County has contracted with a third-party collection agency to collect delinquent taxes. American Financial Credit Services (AFCS) specializes in government debt recovery.

Delinquent business personal property tax, aircraft, boat, trailer, and motor tax may be submitted to AFCS for collection pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 26‑36‑209. This does not include real estate tax bills. If we receive a payment that has been turned over to AFCS, our office will return your payment so that you can pay directly to them.

You can contact AFCS at 1-888-317-2327, option 2, or at www.afcsoptions.com.

When are my taxes due?

Property tax bills are usually mailed by the end of March and must be paid by October 15 to avoid a penalty. If taxes are not paid, license tags cannot be renewed and penalties will be applied. Partial payments are also accepted throughout the year on current taxes.
