Marion County: five designs

Five directions for rebuilding the Marion County, Arkansas website. Each shows the home page and one department page, the Collector's, with the county's real content: every name, phone number and fact comes from the current site. Pick one and the whole site is built in that design.

Links to pages other than Home and the Collector go nowhere yet. Each design works on phones; open it on yours.

1 Inscription

Built like the courthouse. Page titles are carved into a long limestone band, like “Marion County Courthouse” over its walls; pictures sit in round openings like its brick arches; a strict grid with plenty of open space, and an office directory that reads like a lobby board.

2 Contour

The county drawn as a topographic map. A real map of the county, its towns and waters stays beside the page as you read; the offices form a map index with dot leaders, keyed to a street map of Yellville.

3 Service desk

Task first. The home page asks “What do you need to do?” and answers with a grid of color-coded tasks, each ending in the office's phone number. It shows live details: whether the courthouse and the transfer station are open now, the next Quorum Court date, and which road department number to call today.

4 Lakelight

Bull Shoals Lake at dusk. The courthouse fills the screen in lake blue-green with only its brick arches still warm; the county's name stands on the waterline with its reflection, drifts apart as you scroll, and the page darkens toward night. Notices run in a slow ticker with a pause button.

Note
The scrolling effects show in Chrome, Edge and Safari; Firefox shows the same page without them.

5 Postcard

A two-ink poster around the hand-tinted 1913 postcard of the courthouse, with its stamp and a “Yellville, Ark. / Est. 1836” postmark. Wood-type titles, a Quorum Court ticket, and a phone directory with dot leaders; everything people read is set plain.
